I might have mentioned that I was looking for new and interesting ways to stay fit this winter. I find if I commit to certain activities and book ahead of time (and pay) then I’m more likely to actually follow through. The winter weight always gets me and this year I planned to stay ahead of the kgs by planning fitness activities.
One of these activities is a winter trail run series I found on Wildrunner following a recommendation from a friend. Each weekend of June there’s a different trail to run. This is part of the Spur Trail Series.
Each Spur Trail Series® consists of four long and short races, one can complete the full Series by running at least three short courses (Challenge) or three long courses (Championship) to receive a medal or simply run one or two races and join the fun.
I’ve done two of the short course races (each less than 8km) as part of the average pace batch of runners. You can chose your pace when you sign up and run at a pace that’s comfortable for you.
Apart from the obvious fitness benefits, the scenery is beautiful making this series one I’ll definitely be repeating next winter. But worry not, if you’re keen you can still join the last race on the 3rd of July. Check here for details.
